The Undertaker is Back

The Undertaker
So Undertaker finally made his return to wrestling, and apparently he wants a rematch of last year’s blundering contest against Triple H. Don’t get me wrong the match was good until the Undertaker made Triple H tap out without applying a submission maneuver. This is one of the main reasons I don’t want to see this match again. I really don’t want the streak to end; I would rather see the Undertaker retire with the “Streak” intact. But the WWE will have a soon to be 47 year old wrestler who is clearly injury prone come out of retirement in order to draw money for the company. For how much longer will they keep bringing the Undertaker back? Until he needs help to get out of a chair, like Superstar Billy Graham currently does or will the WWE allow him to retire in peace. I am clearly going off topic! In my opinion, if Triple H beats the “Streak” it is only to feed his already huge ego. Why does Triple H, need this win, he is practically the owner of the WWE already. The WWE is always refereeing to doing “what is good for the business” and they should do just that and pick an up and coming wrestler to break the “Streak”. Not an ego maniac! Sorry Triple H, I am a huge fan, but seeing you breaking the “streak” is wrong and in my opinion not “good for the business”.

Edge is on his way to the WWE Hall of Fame

So I decided I wanted to talk a little bit about the WWE Hall of Fame 2012 inductee, Edge. I've always been a fan of Edge from debut to his last match in WrestleMania 27. His vignettes and his entrance were so cool to me. I remember his first televised debut match against Jose Estrada Jr. where he did a somersault over the top rope to the outside and knocked Estrada out. He later joined The Brood with Gangrel and his "brother," Christian. The Brood's entrance is definitely one of my favorite entrances ever, with the ring of fire and Gangrel's song. It was awesome. But once, he and Christian joined together as just a tag team, I became a bigger fan. They both had so much charisma and were so funny. The original TLC matches against The Dudley Boys and The Hardy Boys were unforgettable and legendary. He's accomplished so much throughout his career. Edge list of championships include 14 times Tag Team Champion, U.S. Champion, 5 times Intercontinental Champion, and 11 times WWE/World Heavyweight Champion. He's the 14th "Triple Crown" champion, Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank, King of the Ring, and Slammy Award winner. There is no doubt that he's one of the greats of our generation. I was truly surprised and sad he had to retire but I must admit that his induction to the Hall of Fame is a little premature. I do believe he's a legend in his own right, but for Edge to be inducted before legends like Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts, Owen Hart, The British Bulldogs, and of course someone who I would say is one of the most iconic superstars ever, Macho Man Randy Savage. I must say it’s an insult to not only Savage, but to all the legends that got "swept under the rug" by WWE. No matter what, I've always been a fan of Edge, he deserves his place in the Hall of Fame and I'm happy he's inducted.

Finally The Rock Has Come Back To Wrestling

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
Hello again wrestling fans. I would like to discuss the main event for WrestleMania 28, which has “The most Electrifying Man in all of Entertainment” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson facing John Cena. This wrestling match was announced the night after WrestleMania 27, and it was first introduce as a WWE Heavyweight championship match. The Rock has posted comments on his Twitter account giving reasons for his return to the WWE. The Rock states, I could “elevate the WWE to new heights never seen before”. This statement is a bit bold in my opinion, because The Rock was given a platform in which he performed every day and became the mega star that he is today, this platform was the WWE ring. Is The Rock really hinting that the WWE needs him back in order to reach these “heights”? Well sadly we are not getting The Rock back, because he told us “I never meant to mislead or confuse the fans and I apologize if I did.” So how is he going to elevate the WWE to new heights, I guess he will do this in two matches, remember folks he is “The Great One”. We now know that he is also teaming up with Cena to face the Awesome Truth at Survivor Series, in New York City. (On a side note I am heading there, I already have my tickets can’t wait)   Let’s get back to this match, I am extremely happy that the title is not on the line, because Alberto Del Rio has for filled his destiny, twice and defeated Fruity Pebbles himself John Cena for the WWE Heavyweight Championship title. Besides if Cena lost the WWE title to The Rock, it wouldn’t prove anything, just the fact John Cena can’t wrestle, but of course we already knew that. The Rock himself said he “didn’t come back to the WWE to become champion again”. This leads me to believe that again it’s all about the money, between the WWE and The Rock. I don’t want anyone to misunderstand me, I actually like this match, but I feel insulted that the WWE needed to announce it a year in advance in order to make money. What ever happen to the nice quite build up, between PPV? This is all a huge payday and I guess, we should start getting use to it. We are not going back to the good old days when a match build up meant just as much or even more than the match.

WWE Hall Of Fame 2011

Just recently I bought the WrestleMania XXVII DVD for only one reason, the WWE Hall of Fame 2011. I always try to get the WrestleMania DVD’s every year specifically for the Hall of Fame. Any WWE DVD that shows the behind-the-scenes of professional wrestling is always going to be part of my wrestling DVD collection. Therefore I love hearing the Hall of Fame inductees' introductions, vignettes and stories of their own personal professional wrestling careers.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan
As a kid, I loved Hacksaw Jim Duggan. I think it was cool that he was part of the Atlanta Falcons, he was in WCW which was based out of Atlanta and now he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in Atlanta. He was part of that era in WWE where you didn’t have to be a champion to be over with the audience. He was the first Royal Rumble winner and a King of the Ring, after beating Harley Race. It was touching to see his accomplishments, his fight with cancer, and the fact that he is now a Hall of Famer. HOOOOOO!!!

Bullet Bob Armstrong
I didn’t know much about Bullet Bob Armstrong, only the fact that he's Brad, Steve, Scott and Brian (Road Dogg Jesse James) Armstrong's father. I think Road Dogg's introduction and Bullet Bob's speech was very entertaining. His story about seeing Gorgeous George and accomplishing his dream of being a professional wrestler, was such a great story. I understood exactly how he must have felt that day. As a kid, I used to think these men were larger than life characters. It's something that most people won’t understand. With that being said, I grew a huge level of respect to now Hall of Famer, Bullet Bob Armstrong.

Sunny
Sunny was, is, and always will be my favorite WWE Diva ever. She was my first real big celebrity crush. I remember meeting her and Chris Candido for the first time in The Wrestling Universe in Queens, NY back at the old location. And I'm definitely going to be there June 25th. I can’t miss the opportunity to see her again. Her story about her career was very interesting. She started out as Chris' manager in Smokey Mountain Wrestling and basically stole the show. Don’t get me wrong, Chris Candido is definitely a very under-rated wrestler. The Triple Threat in ECW was one of my favorite factions in wrestling history. Sunny just had so much charisma, you couldn’t help but either love her or hate her. She's the youngest Hall of Famer, the most downloaded celebrity on AOL in 1996 and 1997, and the original WWE Diva. Her induction was well deserved. Thank you, Sunny, for being you.

Abdullah  the Butcher
Abdullah the Butcher used to scare the crap out of me. His battles with Cactus Jack back in WCW, was my earliest memory of hardcore wrestling. He was over without ever saying a word on the mic. Terry Funk's introduction was not only hilarious but thoughtful. Abdullah the Butcher was a genius in his own right and a founding father of hardcore wrestling.

The Road Warriors
The Road Warriors were always one of my favorite tag teams. They were huge, with face paint and spiked shoulder pads. How could they not catch your attention? When my brother and I would play wrestling, I was always Hawk and he was Animal, painted faces and all. They are considered the best tag team in wrestling history and I can’t see an argument there. They're definitely the most successful tag team is history. Road Warrior Animal and Paul Ellering's speech was awesome. I just loved the way Paul Ellering's speech was a poem. "Animal was the exclamation point, I was the jockey that rode the horse, and Hawk was the whistle of the train." His words were very thoughtful. I loved how Animal referred to the "boys" as a brotherhood. His stories about their early career were so inspiring. They were so green but accomplished so much. "Hawk was a husband, a son, a brother, a warrior, a friend." He will forever be missed. LOD! LOD! LOD!

Drew Carrey
Personally I didn’t understand why Drew Carrey would be inducted but now I do. He's part of the celebrity wing with Pete Rose, William 'the Refrigerator' Perry and Bob Uecker. Kane's introduction was funny and Drew Carrey's speech was not only funny but respectful. He expressed his love and respect for professional wrestling. As a wrestling fan, I appreciate his respect for the business. So thank you for your support Drew Carrey.

Shawn Michaels
Mr. Hall of Fame, Mr. WrestleMania, The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels is the best. Of course everyone knows how much I respect Shawn. What his peers had to say about him goes to show that he is the best. He never failed to make his matches the match to remember. His Hall of Fame induction was well deserved. I've personally been waiting for his induction. Triple H's speech was also hilarious. It definitely was more of a roast than an introduction. Either way his speech showed his love and respect for his friend. Hearing Shawn talk about validation really stuck out to me. He never wanted to disappoint. Reading his book "Heartbreak and Triumph," I've learned that his childhood and personality are things I can relate to. Growing up, wrestling with my big brother, being the smaller guy, I never gave up. I always loved watching the smaller high flyers. The Rockers are no doubt, my favorite tag team of all time. So Shawn was always an inspiration to me. What Bullet Bob felt when he first saw Gorgeous George is what I felt seeing Shawn Michaels. When I dreamed about being a professional wrestler, I mimicked HBK the most. I loved how he also referred to the boys as a brotherhood. "We can stab each other in the back, but nobody else could do it." He did what he could in order to keep the business alive by helping get the younger guys over. His career will forever be an inspiration to all the WWE Superstars. I'm quoting Carlito when I say, "Shawn Michaels is everything they say he is. In my opinion, he is the best." Much deserved induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Thank you to all the WWE Legends and Hall of Famers, past and present. This year's Hall of Fame is my personal favorite. Second would have to be Ric Flairs induction. Thank you WWE and all I can say is, I love wrestling.

Edge gives the fans a touching fare well

A very emotional Edge retires on Monday Night Raw duo to a neck injury. He had surgery to repair a broken neck early in his career. Edge states he has lost some feeling in his arms and was told by his doctors he should retire.  It seems that Edge wrestled in server pain, but was able to give an excellent match, at WrestleMania 27. He retired as the World Champion, and gave the fans a touching fare well. With a “thank you” Edge leaves Monday Night Raw as a true legend in the WWE.

What happen to WrestleMania 27?

Hello again wrestling fans, I am going to discuss what happen last night during WrestleMania 27. Let me start off by letting everyone know that I don’t consider myself a wrestling expert but a true die hard wrestling fan. This is why I started my blog site The Wrestling Fans Review, to allow wrestling fans to express themselves. With that being said I must confess that WrestleMania 27 was not the best Pay Per View the WWE brought to us. There were a few matches that I enjoyed, but the rest of the matches were horrible. I am going to give you a brief break down of the show.

The first match of the night was the World Heavyweight Title match between Edge and Alberto Del Rio.  I can’t believe a world title match would open a WWE Pay Per View. The match was good, but I really thought that Alberto Del Rio was going to defeat Edge and become the new world champion. Sadly that didn’t happen; Edge did destroy one of Alberto Del Rio’s priceless vehicles. I guess the WWE believes the world title is second rate. The second match was Rey Mystero vs. Cody Rhodes. This match was really good, even if Rey Mystero did kill one of the biggest Marvel Comics super heroes Captain America, by dressing like Captain Mexico. The match ended when Cody Rhodes pinned Rey, for the victory. The third match was the eight men tag team match between The Big Show, Kane, Santino Marella, and Kofi Kingston vs. The Core. The only good part of this match was when Santino Marella used The Cobra for the victory. The forth match was between CM Punk and Randy Orton. This was the second best match of the night, in my opinion. Randy Orton gains the victory after he hit CM Punk with the RKO, when Punk jumped of the top rope. CM Punk should have won this match. His win would have added credibility to Punk’s heel status on Raw.  The next match was Jerry “The King” Lawler vs. Michael Cole, Lawler won the match. His win was over turned and handed to the voice of the WWE, Michael Cole by the Raw General Manger.

The Undertaker vs. Triple H was next contest of night. This should had been the match that closed out WrestleMania 27, but it’s wasn’t. This match was excellent, these wrestling superstars left their hearts in the ring, but sadly the ending was horrible. The undertaker couldn’t remember how do his own finishing maneuvers, but Triple H saved the match by giving an Oscar winning performance.  Now we have the six persons tag team Match, starring Nichole “Snooki” Polizzi. We all knew that Snooki was going to win the match, that’s all I am going to say about that. The main event was The Miz vs. John Cena. The Miz was man handling John Cena throughout the match. The match ending with a double count out, until The Rock restarted the contest, and helped The Miz gain the victory over John Cena. While The Miz Celebrates his victory, The rock gave him Spin Buster.
I give WrestleMania 27, five stars out of ten. Leave me your comments and tell me your favorite matches of the night.

The MIz

WrestleMania is a couple of hours away and the match everyone’s talking about, for all the wrong reasons, is the WWE title match.  The verbal feud between The Rock & John Cena is over shadowing the fact that WWE champion The Miz will be in the main event at WrestleMania 27. The Miz has been over looked and is being used more like a prop or a third wheel in the main event at WrestleMania. We all must agree that his in-ring performance and his mic work have improved over the course of three years. This man fought his way to the top of WWE ranks and he is still not viewed as a top performer. He won Money in The Bank ladder match in July 18, 2010, which gave him a contract for a title shot when ever and where ever he chooses.  On November 22, 2010 The Miz cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and defeated Randy Orton, thus becoming the new WWE Champion on Monday night Raw.

The road that The Miz took to obtain the WWE Championship was long and wearing, he was a cast member on the MTV realty hit series “Real World”.  In 2004 he competed in the “Tough Enough competition”, in which he placed second. The WWE gave him a developmental contract and placed him in their wrestling training companies. He wrestled in Deep South Wrestling (DSW) and Ohio Valley Wresting (OVW), in which he had great success. He became the Deep South Heavyweight Champion and held the OVW Tag Team Championship. The Miz joined SmackDown in early 2006, later was drafted to ECW where he won the WWE Tag Team titles with John Morrison. The Miz and Morrison also won the World Tag Team Championship.  He was drafted to Raw mid 2009, where he won his first single title, by defeating the United States Champion Kofi Kingston live on Raw. The Miz held the United States Championship on two different occasions. He later teamed up with The Big Show and became part of the Unified Tag Team Champions by defeating DX (Shawn Michael s & Triple H),while also holding the US title at the sometime.

The Miz future is bright, but there will be many questions to answer after this WrestleMania. If he wins who will be his next opponent? Is there another young wrestler ready to become the top WWE superstar?  Or if he loses, will he start all over at the bottom of the WWE rankings?  We have seen this happen before, most recently with former World Champion Jack Swagger, whom I thought was going to be a great superstar. Never the less we should recognize that The Miz is on top of the WWE universe…. He is Awesomeeeeee!.
