The 50 Greatest Tag Team in WWE History,

It is funny how the WWE puts out a list of The 50 Greatest Tag Team in WWE History, when in actuality they don’t care about the division anymore. The last time the WWE had a good tag team division was the “Attitude Era”. Charlie Hass one half of “The World Greatest Tag Team”, currently wrestling for ROH, explains it the best “now they just throw two guys together and they put a couple of shitty belts on them that look terrible. Those belts look like pennies.”

This Week in Wrestling (April 29, 2012)

Edge was on Raw this past Monday night, and he wanted to see the real John Cena. Edge called out Cena on being a big old softy and that the real Cena was the man that put him throw three tables of a ladder. It was funny how Edge, just let the entire world know that his contract was expiring at the end of this month, hoping to gather some support from the fans in order to get a better contract, he truly is “The Ultimate Opportunist”

Edge is on his way to the WWE Hall of Fame

So I decided I wanted to talk a little bit about the WWE Hall of Fame 2012 inductee, Edge. I've always been a fan of Edge from debut to his last match in WrestleMania 27. His vignettes and his entrance were so cool to me. I remember his first televised debut match against Jose Estrada Jr. where he did a somersault over the top rope to the outside and knocked Estrada out. He later joined The Brood with Gangrel and his "brother," Christian. The Brood's entrance is definitely one of my favorite entrances ever, with the ring of fire and Gangrel's song. It was awesome. But once, he and Christian joined together as just a tag team, I became a bigger fan. They both had so much charisma and were so funny. The original TLC matches against The Dudley Boys and The Hardy Boys were unforgettable and legendary. He's accomplished so much throughout his career. Edge list of championships include 14 times Tag Team Champion, U.S. Champion, 5 times Intercontinental Champion, and 11 times WWE/World Heavyweight Champion. He's the 14th "Triple Crown" champion, Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank, King of the Ring, and Slammy Award winner. There is no doubt that he's one of the greats of our generation. I was truly surprised and sad he had to retire but I must admit that his induction to the Hall of Fame is a little premature. I do believe he's a legend in his own right, but for Edge to be inducted before legends like Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts, Owen Hart, The British Bulldogs, and of course someone who I would say is one of the most iconic superstars ever, Macho Man Randy Savage. I must say it’s an insult to not only Savage, but to all the legends that got "swept under the rug" by WWE. No matter what, I've always been a fan of Edge, he deserves his place in the Hall of Fame and I'm happy he's inducted.

The Wrestling Fans Review awards for 2011

Wrestle of the Year

Alberto Del Rio
Alberto Del Rio is my pick for wrestler of the year for 2011. He won the WWE Heavyweight Championship twice this year. Del Rio won the 2011 Royal Rumble. What made this Rumble special was that there were 39 other men in this match, and he out lasted all of them. He was Raw’s Money in the Bank winner for 2011. Del Rio defeated The Miz, R-Truth, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, Rey Mysterio, Alex Riley and Evan Bourne, to win a grantee contract for the WWE Heavyweight Championship. Del Rio also was in the co-main event of WrestleMania 27, in which he faced Edge in his final match. What else can I say about the Del Rio, he had an awesome year, but of course you already knew that!

Break Out Star of the Year

Zack Ryder
I pick New York’s own Zack Ryder for Breakout Star of the year. Ryder was better known as Brett Major a member of the Major Brothers. The WWE changed their names to Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder. They used to help Edge during his matches while they were part of “La Familia”. They were referred as the ‘Rated-R-Entourage’ during this time, they captured Tag Team gold, and surprisingly this was one of his highest honor. Ryder was at the brink of getting fired from the WWE and he started a YouTube channel called “Z! True Long Island Story”. This channel changed his career, fans & wrestler started to support him, and he finally made his debut no Raw. I have attended two live shows this year and the crowd always chanted “we want Ryder”. His popularity has grown so much that the WWE has so many items available for purchase on WWEshop.com, like the Broski T-shirt, Broski head band, and even the Broski wall clock. The high light of 2011 was when he defeated Dolph Ziggler for the United States Champion. 2012 looks so bright that he needs to wear shades, which is also available at WWEShop.com, Woo Woo Woo, you know it!

Wrestler of the Year

CM Punk
I must say CM Punk. I also known about CM Punk from Ring of Honor and from some matches in TNA. Fun fact: He started in backyard wrestling with his tag team partner, CM Venom as the Chick Magnets. Hence, CM stands for Chick Magnet. But I've never really watched any backyard wrestling. It wasn’t my thing. I must also admit that I was never a huge fan of his. I respected his work and his mic skills. It wasn’t until he started the Straight Edge Society, that I began to really notice that he's better as a heel. He later began commentating and did an amazing job doing so. What I loved about Punk commentating is what I loved about Matt Stryker commentating, and that is the view of a wrestling fan. They would often reference wrestling legends, un-forgetful moments, etc. He then began leading the New Nexus but it wasn’t until his contract was up that he decides to cut a "shoot" promo live on Raw. He was suspended but the WWE just could not ignore the buzz that CM Punk created. To me, it brought back the realism to wrestling. I also must admit that his idea of him being the "Best in the World" is kind of a stretch and very arguable to say. Maybe now that Shawn Michaels is retired and Chris Jericho (who might come back) isn’t around right now, CM Punk might be the best. But none the less, CM Punk has also come a long way in his career and is doing a good job being the WWE Champion.

Hello wrestling fans, so my vote for Breakout Star of the Year is Daniel Bryan.

Daniel Bryan
As I said before, I've known about The American Dragon Bryan Danielson since I started watching Ring of Honor. His battles with guys like Lowki and The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels were amazing. What true wrestling fans need to understand about Independent wrestling shows, is that those wrestlers will do anything to put on a great match. They work their asses off to get noticed and appreciated by the fans. When WWE NXT started, the first and only guy I noticed was Daniel Bryan. We all know he didn’t win NXT but WWE still gave him a chance. He had a rivalry with Michael Cole which I believe started Cole's gimmick as the new heel commentator and it made new fans notice Bryan's skills. I must admit, his mic skills needed to be a little better but he's grown to hold his own on the mic. He later became the U.S. Champion for a few months until he lost it to Sheamus. But that was all in 2010. His career really took a big step when he won Money in the Bank 2011. When he started saying that he was going to cash the briefcase in for WrestleMania 28, I believed that was how the WWE was going to screw him out of the World Championship. He then had a long list of losses against guys like Alberto Del Rio, Wade Barrett, etc. They even had him job for Sin Cara because they knew Bryan could work well with the Mexican Luchadore style of Sin Cara. He finally cashed in the briefcase at WWE TLC, pinning Big Show and becoming the new World Champion. I believe he's come a long way in his career and he deserved the championship.

Ernesto Heleno Jr.

With CM Punk and Daniel Bryan starting 2012 as the WWE Champion and World Champion, it goes to show that the future of the WWE is now in the hands of the young talented Superstars of today. The future is now, wrestling fans. Who do you think are the Wrestler of the Year and Breakout Star of the Year for 2011?

Dolph Ziggler

The United States Championship changed hands on WWE’s Capital Punishment PPV. Dolpd Ziggler defeated Kofi Kingston via a sleeper hold. Ziggler also defeated Kingston for his first Intercontinental championship. Ziggler is one of the youngest superstars that you can vote for in our poll. Ziggler debuted as Chavo Guerrero‘s Caddy when Chavo changed his name to Kerwin White.  Ziggler later joined the Spirit Squad, they became tag team champions, and the WWE recognized all five members as tag team champions.  He became World Heavyweight champion, because his ’business associate’ Vickie Guerrero awarded him the title after the then champion Edge used a banned move (the Spear) to defeat Ziggler a week earlier. Theodore Long came back to SmackDown that same night and made the match between Ziggler and Edge for the World title. Edge ended Ziggler title reign, which lasted only 11 min. Dolph Ziggler is young and his future is bright, I wouldn’t be surprise to him in the world title mix.

Total Nonstop Action (TNA)

I have to admit, I'm not a big TNA (Total Nonstop Action) fan. I used to be, when it first started. When I first heard about TNA, I was introduced to the genre of X-Division, which I loved. AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Petey Williams, The Motor City Machine Guns - Alex Shelly and Chris Sabin, just to name a few. Whenever you saw any one of those guys in the ring together, you know you were in for some total nonstop action, pun intended. But of course with Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff writing and producing, etc. we have ourselves WCW Version 2. It's back to having the old guys in the spotlight. Whenever I put on TNA, all I see is Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, and no offense to two of my all time favorite wrestlers Sting and Ric Flair. I'm sorry guys but your time has passed, it’s now time for the new generation and that's what Hulk Hogan can’t understand. Yes, I know guys like AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Rob Van Dam, Mr. Anderson, Kaz, Abyss (the poor-man's Kane), Samoa Joe, etc. are young guys that are in the spotlight and are getting their push to the top, but it's still some way around Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair and Sting. I may be wrong or out of line, maybe they're there to help the young guys climb the ladder to the top, I just think TNA broke away from what it used to be and what made them popular. It became another WCW, and I personally believe it's the wrong way to go. As you can see, one by one the older guys are starting to leave WWE. Shawn Michaels retired, Undertaker shows up randomly or for WrestleMania, Edge retired, Triple H is now backstage as an executive producer. The WWE is now depending on the young guys to do a good job. Yes, WWE is now PG, which I hate, but I still think they're heading in the right direction. They broke away from the celebrity guest host of Monday Night Raw, and I believe it's starting to slowly build up into a better show. TNA is TV-14 and that is better but I think the whole Mr. Anderson being an "asshole" gimmick is just TNA trying hard to be more mature than WWE. The way TNA uses the "asshole" gimmick, is cheesy. Of course, these are just my opinion. I'd love to hear what other people think of TNA, please leave a comment. Thank you!

Edge gives the fans a touching fare well

A very emotional Edge retires on Monday Night Raw duo to a neck injury. He had surgery to repair a broken neck early in his career. Edge states he has lost some feeling in his arms and was told by his doctors he should retire.  It seems that Edge wrestled in server pain, but was able to give an excellent match, at WrestleMania 27. He retired as the World Champion, and gave the fans a touching fare well. With a “thank you” Edge leaves Monday Night Raw as a true legend in the WWE.

What happen to WrestleMania 27?

Hello again wrestling fans, I am going to discuss what happen last night during WrestleMania 27. Let me start off by letting everyone know that I don’t consider myself a wrestling expert but a true die hard wrestling fan. This is why I started my blog site The Wrestling Fans Review, to allow wrestling fans to express themselves. With that being said I must confess that WrestleMania 27 was not the best Pay Per View the WWE brought to us. There were a few matches that I enjoyed, but the rest of the matches were horrible. I am going to give you a brief break down of the show.

The first match of the night was the World Heavyweight Title match between Edge and Alberto Del Rio.  I can’t believe a world title match would open a WWE Pay Per View. The match was good, but I really thought that Alberto Del Rio was going to defeat Edge and become the new world champion. Sadly that didn’t happen; Edge did destroy one of Alberto Del Rio’s priceless vehicles. I guess the WWE believes the world title is second rate. The second match was Rey Mystero vs. Cody Rhodes. This match was really good, even if Rey Mystero did kill one of the biggest Marvel Comics super heroes Captain America, by dressing like Captain Mexico. The match ended when Cody Rhodes pinned Rey, for the victory. The third match was the eight men tag team match between The Big Show, Kane, Santino Marella, and Kofi Kingston vs. The Core. The only good part of this match was when Santino Marella used The Cobra for the victory. The forth match was between CM Punk and Randy Orton. This was the second best match of the night, in my opinion. Randy Orton gains the victory after he hit CM Punk with the RKO, when Punk jumped of the top rope. CM Punk should have won this match. His win would have added credibility to Punk’s heel status on Raw.  The next match was Jerry “The King” Lawler vs. Michael Cole, Lawler won the match. His win was over turned and handed to the voice of the WWE, Michael Cole by the Raw General Manger.

The Undertaker vs. Triple H was next contest of night. This should had been the match that closed out WrestleMania 27, but it’s wasn’t. This match was excellent, these wrestling superstars left their hearts in the ring, but sadly the ending was horrible. The undertaker couldn’t remember how do his own finishing maneuvers, but Triple H saved the match by giving an Oscar winning performance.  Now we have the six persons tag team Match, starring Nichole “Snooki” Polizzi. We all knew that Snooki was going to win the match, that’s all I am going to say about that. The main event was The Miz vs. John Cena. The Miz was man handling John Cena throughout the match. The match ending with a double count out, until The Rock restarted the contest, and helped The Miz gain the victory over John Cena. While The Miz Celebrates his victory, The rock gave him Spin Buster.
I give WrestleMania 27, five stars out of ten. Leave me your comments and tell me your favorite matches of the night.

WrestleMania 27 Press conference

Hello again wrestling fan, my brother and I spent our day on an enormous line in order to enter The WrestleMania 27 Press conference. This was my first experience at an event like this, let me start of by saying it was a cold New York day. My brother made it onto line at about 8am, I made it a short time after that, and there were about 50 people in front of us. We know an employee of The Hard Rock Café, which told us there were about 25 people that camped out since 2am, to be ahead of the line. The entire event was perfectly organized, they gave us wrist bands and they separated the lines into three different groups. The energy of the crowd was huge; many fans came out dress as their favorite characters. They chanted for their favorite wrestlers, for their favorite shipping company, basically they chanted for everyone and everything. What stood out to me was the interaction between Cena’s fans & The Rock’s fans and how passionately they showed their support. There were three John Cena haters which brought a box of Fruity Pebbles, and chanted Fruity Pebbles all day long.

Finally the WWE Superstars started to arrive via limos and SUVs. This is when the crowd became rowdy; the first participant to arrive was Snooki.  The second person to arrive was Michael Cole, followed by The Game Triple H who was accompanied by his wife Stephanie McMahon. The King of Kings took the time to wave at the crowd. The Miz came out of his SUV, the fans started to chant AWESOME, AWESOME, and AWESOME. Edge and Alberto del Rio made their appearance thereafter. A surprise guest came out of a stretch limo it was Vince McMahon.  The last two superstars to make their appearance were John Cena and The Rock, the first one to appear was Cena. As Cena exits out of the car the fans started to chant Fruity Pebbles, one of the fans tossed a hand full of Fruity Pebbles towards John Cena. He looked extremely pissed off, as made his way into the building. Finally The Rock makes his appearance in New York City; the fans went crazy, and the Rocky chants started. The Rock waved towards the crowd, electrifying the hundreds and hundreds of The Rock fans that were in attendance.

During the press conference Snooki forgot who her male partner was, John Morrison. Also the WWE Universe didn’t want to hear from John Cena, The crowd was chanting everything you can imagine. Overall it was fun, but sadly I didn’t get any memorabilia signed today.

Alberto Del Rio will fulfill his destiny

Ever since his debut, Alberto Del Rio has been making a huge impact on the WWE Universe. Since the Royal Rumble, he has been dominating on WWE Friday Night SmackDown. Making Edge's life a nightmare. Luckily Christian came back to get his revenge on Del Rio. But since WWE NXT, he developed a protégé, so-to-speak, Brodus Clay. With a big man like Brodus Clay by your side, it's been very difficult for Edge and Christian to gain an advantage. This Friday on SmackDown will be the last confrontation Edge and Alberto Del Rio will have before WrestleMania 27. My prediction is that Alberto Del Rio will fulfill his destiny, but of course, you already know that ::wink::

Picture was taken at WrestleMania 27 Press Conference, at The Hard Rock Cafe on March 30, 2011.
