WCW: The Best of Clash of the Champions

Hello wrestling fans, it’s time for another DVD review. Watching WCW: The Best of Clash of the Champions brought back so many memories. Helped me remember how much I hated WCW. I must admit, the only thing that made WCW worth watching is the quality in the matches. The very first match presented was the main event of the first ever Clash of the Champions back in 1988, between "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. Sting for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

The WWE Has Many Of Their Top Talent On The Disable List

Randy Orton is serving a 60 days suspension for violating the Talent Wellness Program for a second time. His suspension begins today; he is due to return late July. Orton was scheduled to wrestle Chris Jericho at No Way Out, but Jericho is also serving 30 days suspension, after his desecration of the Brazilian flag during the South American tour this past weekend. This is a major blow to the WWE. They've lost a top babyface and a top heel all in the same week. The WWE has many of their top talent on the disable list, such as Wade Barrett, Ted Dibiase and Evan Bourne. Plus Rey Mysterio is not due back until late June. This brings up a huge question; is the WWE schedule too grueling, that it leads their superstars to substance abuse and/ or injuries?

Chris Jericho Suspended for 30 Days

So Chris Jericho has been suspended for 30 days because he desecrated the Brazilian flag during the tour of South America.  Jericho took the flag, dropped it to the mat and kicked it out of the ring with a disgust impression on his face. Many people feel that his actions do not merit his suspension, but I am not one of them. I feel that the kicking of any flag including the American should not be tolerated; in a live event and even if it’s part of a storyline. A flag has many sentimental values to its country men, so I could understand if the Brazilian people wanted to arrest Chris Jericho. But yet again who knows if this is another storyline ploy that will help Jericho make his “grant exit” from the WWE. He started a rant on Twitter; he states I am done with the WWE, but later he starts counting down to his return in 26 days, who knows if he is going to return. And who cares he has not done anything special since he made his return last November. If he does return, he has a short period of time left, to do something special before he starts tour with Fozzy.

This Week in Wrestling (April 29, 2012)

Edge was on Raw this past Monday night, and he wanted to see the real John Cena. Edge called out Cena on being a big old softy and that the real Cena was the man that put him throw three tables of a ladder. It was funny how Edge, just let the entire world know that his contract was expiring at the end of this month, hoping to gather some support from the fans in order to get a better contract, he truly is “The Ultimate Opportunist”

My Thoughts on WrestleMania 28

WrestleMania 28 was full of excitement and exceptions. The WWE had special guest performances by Machine Gun Kelly and Flo Rida. There were famous athletes in attendance, like New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez accompanied by former WWE Diva Torrie Wilson. The matches were good and at times I felt we needed more in ring action instead of dancing with the Funkasaurus’s Momma. In my opinion the match that I believed was going to bomb

Ernesto's WrestleMania 28 Prediction

Hello fans, we are a few hours away from the biggest event in the whole wrestling world, WrestlemMania!! I'm super excited because in my opinion, this WrestleMania has a list of good matches to expect. My only concern is expecting too much and being disappointed in the end.

This Week in Wrestling (March 24, 2012)

Raw began with CM Punk, in the middle of the ring; he was highly pissed off with Chris Jericho for airing out Punks dirty laundry on live television. Jericho told the WWE Universe that CM Punk’s dad is an alcoholic, and because of this Punk is straight edge, he doesn’t drink, doesn’t do drugs or smoke. Jericho continues his attack on Punk’s family, and brings up his sisters long battle with substance abuse.

The Best in the World

Hello wrestling fans, with the question of "who's the best in the world?" on my mind, I decided to watch WWE Breaking The Code: Behind the Walls of Jericho. I must say, Chris Jericho is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time. As we all know, he has always looked up to Shawn Michaels and he always reminded me of Shawn too. He was always a great in-ring performer, worked all around the world, gaining so much experience and got noticed by guys like Paul Heyman, Jim Cornette and Mick Foley. Jericho had a brief run in ECW, which eventually got the attention of Eric Bischoff. With the idea of the Cruiserweight division in mind, Bischoff hand-picked Jericho as one of the pioneers of that division, alongside other guys like Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Rey Mysterio Jr., etc.

Chris Jericho Is The Best In The World At What He Does

Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho ended Raw with a bang, gaining a victory over the WWE Champion CM Punk. After the match Jericho then mocked him by sitting in Punk’s traditional Indian style pose and holding the WWE title on his shoulder. Earlier in the show he came clean by telling the fans the main reason for returning to wrestling. Jericho called out all of the wrestlers that were stealing his gimmick, specially “The Best in the World” CM Punk. CM Punk responded by mocking Jericho and not uttering a word.  I don’t like to toot my own horn, but toot, toot, I wrote about this same story line a couple of weeks ago and I guess someone has a future in the WWE creative team, lol. In my opinion Jericho is back in the WWE to put over the younger talent, so look for exciting matches on the Chamber PPV and WrestleMania 28.

Picture of the Week (February 11, 2012)

Chris Jericho is “The best in world at what he does”, but his character has evolved. He was once known as “Lion Heart” Chris Jericho, and was one of the funniest characters WCW/WWE has ever had; this is why he is under the spot light of this week’s edition of Picture of the Week.

Raw Super Show (February 7, 2012)

Hello wrestling fans. After watching Raw Super Show, I had a few thoughts I wanted to express. I'm already tired of the whole Kane, Cena, Ryder and Eve situation. It's border-line soap opera. Zack Ryder and Eve being "boyfriend/girlfriend" is just dumb but hopefully Ryder makes his return soon and wins back his U.S. championship. The only way I see the "embrace the hate" angle working out is with John Cena defeating Kane in the "Ambulance Match," which ends that feud and eventually makes Cena turn heel for the WrestleMania match against The Rock. Honestly, I really don’t care for that match. I was never excited for a Rock/Cena match, not even when it was announced last year, after WrestleMania 27. The Rock sold out to become a "movie star" and truthfully, I'll be cheering for John Cena. Speaking of "truth", what the hell was Miz thinking when he let R-Truth just fall flat on his back from the ring to the outside floor? If Truth is seriously injured, it could jeopardize his career and it would definitely be The Miz's fault. Not cool. I must admit, I’m more excited to see the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship than for the World Heavyweight Championship. Simply because, for some reason The Great Khali is in the Chamber match. Khali is just an example of what I like to call a "monster gimmick." Big monster guys who are there to be unstoppable, which is lame and boring, in my opinion. I am excited to see the Lionheart, Y2J, The Best in the World at what he does, Chris Jericho become WWE champion. I said in a past article how CM Punk might be the best since HBK and Jericho are gone, but that same day, Jericho returns to Raw. Jericho's speech last night was perfect and he has the history of accomplishments to back it up. CM Punk definitely stole the "Best in the World" phrase and Jericho will show him, who's the best. Y2J! Y2J! Y2J! Lastly, I'm sure that Triple H will eventually accept the Undertaker's challenge at WrestleMania. It just goes to show that Undertaker has no more worthy opponents for WrestleMania and I’m sorry to say, it'll never be as great of a match as the ones Taker had with Mr. WrestleMania himself, Shawn Michaels.

Y2J is Back in the WWE

Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho made his return to the WWE last Monday night in front of a massive cheering crowd. The crowd went berserk as soon as they saw a figure in the dark with a lighted up jacket in a crucifix position. Jericho and the WWE are brilliant; they made an enormous impact without saying one word. It really wasn’t a huge surprise to anyone, because all of the cryptic videos pointed to his return. It was amazing how a great wrestler or should I say a veteran wrestler can turn a crowd from cheering to booing without talking. I must admit that at first I didn’t have a clue what he was doing, but once he made his way to the top of the entrance ramp very thing became clear, one of the greatest heels of all time has played with the fans emotions. The cocky six time World Champion is back to reclaim what is his, which is his persona and his catch phrase.  According to Chris Jericho, everyone in the WWE is stealing his gimmick, from The Miz to CM Punk.

There are many different angles the WWE can do with Jericho, here some of the ones I would like to see. Chris Jericho can enter the 30 men Royal Rumble match and win his shot at the WWE Heavyweight Championship against “The Best in the World”.  Another angle is for him to attempt to break The Undertaker’s WrestleMania winning streak, but I really can’t see this happening for this upcoming WrestleMania. The Rock is the focal point this year, and adding another huge main event will take away from his spot light. I can see him rekindle his feud with Randy Orton (when Orton is healthy), if you remember Orton hit him with a punt kick, during the last match Jericho had on Raw. I do believe Stephanie McMahon will return to aid him in his quest for the WWE Championship.  There so many angles the WWE can do with Jericho, I just hope they don’t drop the ball, like they have done this past year.

The Wrestling Fans Review awards for 2011

Wrestle of the Year

Alberto Del Rio
Alberto Del Rio is my pick for wrestler of the year for 2011. He won the WWE Heavyweight Championship twice this year. Del Rio won the 2011 Royal Rumble. What made this Rumble special was that there were 39 other men in this match, and he out lasted all of them. He was Raw’s Money in the Bank winner for 2011. Del Rio defeated The Miz, R-Truth, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, Rey Mysterio, Alex Riley and Evan Bourne, to win a grantee contract for the WWE Heavyweight Championship. Del Rio also was in the co-main event of WrestleMania 27, in which he faced Edge in his final match. What else can I say about the Del Rio, he had an awesome year, but of course you already knew that!

Break Out Star of the Year

Zack Ryder
I pick New York’s own Zack Ryder for Breakout Star of the year. Ryder was better known as Brett Major a member of the Major Brothers. The WWE changed their names to Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder. They used to help Edge during his matches while they were part of “La Familia”. They were referred as the ‘Rated-R-Entourage’ during this time, they captured Tag Team gold, and surprisingly this was one of his highest honor. Ryder was at the brink of getting fired from the WWE and he started a YouTube channel called “Z! True Long Island Story”. This channel changed his career, fans & wrestler started to support him, and he finally made his debut no Raw. I have attended two live shows this year and the crowd always chanted “we want Ryder”. His popularity has grown so much that the WWE has so many items available for purchase on WWEshop.com, like the Broski T-shirt, Broski head band, and even the Broski wall clock. The high light of 2011 was when he defeated Dolph Ziggler for the United States Champion. 2012 looks so bright that he needs to wear shades, which is also available at WWEShop.com, Woo Woo Woo, you know it!

Wrestler of the Year

CM Punk
I must say CM Punk. I also known about CM Punk from Ring of Honor and from some matches in TNA. Fun fact: He started in backyard wrestling with his tag team partner, CM Venom as the Chick Magnets. Hence, CM stands for Chick Magnet. But I've never really watched any backyard wrestling. It wasn’t my thing. I must also admit that I was never a huge fan of his. I respected his work and his mic skills. It wasn’t until he started the Straight Edge Society, that I began to really notice that he's better as a heel. He later began commentating and did an amazing job doing so. What I loved about Punk commentating is what I loved about Matt Stryker commentating, and that is the view of a wrestling fan. They would often reference wrestling legends, un-forgetful moments, etc. He then began leading the New Nexus but it wasn’t until his contract was up that he decides to cut a "shoot" promo live on Raw. He was suspended but the WWE just could not ignore the buzz that CM Punk created. To me, it brought back the realism to wrestling. I also must admit that his idea of him being the "Best in the World" is kind of a stretch and very arguable to say. Maybe now that Shawn Michaels is retired and Chris Jericho (who might come back) isn’t around right now, CM Punk might be the best. But none the less, CM Punk has also come a long way in his career and is doing a good job being the WWE Champion.

Hello wrestling fans, so my vote for Breakout Star of the Year is Daniel Bryan.

Daniel Bryan
As I said before, I've known about The American Dragon Bryan Danielson since I started watching Ring of Honor. His battles with guys like Lowki and The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels were amazing. What true wrestling fans need to understand about Independent wrestling shows, is that those wrestlers will do anything to put on a great match. They work their asses off to get noticed and appreciated by the fans. When WWE NXT started, the first and only guy I noticed was Daniel Bryan. We all know he didn’t win NXT but WWE still gave him a chance. He had a rivalry with Michael Cole which I believe started Cole's gimmick as the new heel commentator and it made new fans notice Bryan's skills. I must admit, his mic skills needed to be a little better but he's grown to hold his own on the mic. He later became the U.S. Champion for a few months until he lost it to Sheamus. But that was all in 2010. His career really took a big step when he won Money in the Bank 2011. When he started saying that he was going to cash the briefcase in for WrestleMania 28, I believed that was how the WWE was going to screw him out of the World Championship. He then had a long list of losses against guys like Alberto Del Rio, Wade Barrett, etc. They even had him job for Sin Cara because they knew Bryan could work well with the Mexican Luchadore style of Sin Cara. He finally cashed in the briefcase at WWE TLC, pinning Big Show and becoming the new World Champion. I believe he's come a long way in his career and he deserved the championship.

Ernesto Heleno Jr.

With CM Punk and Daniel Bryan starting 2012 as the WWE Champion and World Champion, it goes to show that the future of the WWE is now in the hands of the young talented Superstars of today. The future is now, wrestling fans. Who do you think are the Wrestler of the Year and Breakout Star of the Year for 2011?

Picture of the Week (December 3, 2011)

I am hoping that the “It Begins” promo is for Chris Jericho. The former world champion will make a huge impact in wrestling again, because he is the best in the world at what he does.

Wrestling And Social Media A Match Made In Heaven

I love social media, don’t you? I mean every time a wrestling company fires someone they hit twitter and invite everyone to a release party, right Maryse. Then we have Chris Master alleging sexual misconduct from the head of the SmackDown creative team. I will not mention names folks I don’t have BIG bucks to pay a lawyer if I get sued. We also have wrestlers that take jabs at other wrestlers that are still in the company. Chavo we all know that Cena sucks salty donkey ba***…sorry folks I forget kids can also read these things, Chavo thank you for reminding us, the obvious. Then we have wrestlers that are still under contract who call out the guys who left the company years ago. CM Punk, yes all the fans agree you are the best in the world at what you do. Sorry, you’re the best wrestler in the world we don’t want gimmick infringement, right Jericho. What I am getting at is that Social Media is a good tool for un-employed wrestlers to voice their opinion after being treated unfairly while under contract by their wrestling company. Wrestling companies like the WWE is also using Social Media as a tool to enhance their storylines. Kevin Nash is a prime example, he wrote on his twitter account that he refused a contract from the WWE because it was too low, really bro, the WWE is the biggest wrestling company on the planet. There isn’t any other wrestling company that can pay you better. I love Social Media, because we have people that like to talk sh*t, like me ;-)

The Rumor Mill - May 11, 2011

SmackDown results

-Trevor Murdoch wrestled a dark match during the SmackDown taping. Sin Cara defeated Daniel Bryan, Kane Defeated Wade Barrett, and Randy Orton & Christian defeated Sheamus & Mark Henry.
-Shane ‘Gregory’ Helms is recovering in a hospital after a motorcycle accident.
-I read rumors of Batista and Chris Jericho coming back to WWE. I totally understand why WWE is bringing them back. They need wrestling superstars of their caliber to put over the young stars; this will give creditability to WWE roster.  In my opinion Chris is a great heel, I enjoy all of his matches and I really think he can make the WWE Heavyweight Championship look good.

ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling)

I really miss the original ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling). The matches were always fast paced, mature, and emotional. They took professional wrestling to a whole new level. ECW, not only started the whole hardcore/attitude era, they also started the cruiserweight/luchador style. You have to understand that when ECW started, we were introduced to great legends and legends to-be. Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio Jr., and Chris Jericho, just to name a few. The feud with Tommy Dreamer and Raven, Raven and Sandman, ECW and "the Network" was so emotional and different from WWE and WCW at the time. Until this day, Rob Van Dam is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time. His style was so creative and original, that I couldn't help but pay close attention to his matches. Being at a live ECW show was one of the best times I've ever had. It had its own cult-following. It was a group of misfits, all working together to keep the ECW organization alive. They held on as long as they could until the end, but ECW will never die. It still lives inside the hearts of all the true wrestling fans. Everyone knows whenever you see a chair, a ladder, a table being used in a match; you can't help but chant ECW! ECW! ECW!

These picture are from a live event in the 90's at the Elks Lodge in Queens, New York.
