This Week in Wrestling (March 24, 2012)

Raw began with CM Punk, in the middle of the ring; he was highly pissed off with Chris Jericho for airing out Punks dirty laundry on live television. Jericho told the WWE Universe that CM Punk’s dad is an alcoholic, and because of this Punk is straight edge, he doesn’t drink, doesn’t do drugs or smoke. Jericho continues his attack on Punk’s family, and brings up his sisters long battle with substance abuse.

What Does the Future Hold for Brock Lesnar?

Former WWE Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar lost his third Mix Martial Art (MMA) fight, in the UFC against Alistair Overeem. Overeem is one of the biggest men I have ever seen.  Overeem hit Lesnar with a couple of knees to the body and then landed a huge kick to the abdomen, which drop Lesnar and left him unable to continue. Many of his other fights have ended in the same fashion. Frank Mir defeated Lesnar with a Kneebar that forced him to submit. Brock Lesnar suffered his second lost via a TKO, when Cain Velasquez caught him with a straight right that opened a gash on his cheek and again Lesnar could not defend himself. All of Brooke Lesnar losses have come in the first round and in my opinion proves that he has not fully recovered from his battle of mononucleosis. Brock promised his family that he will retire once he captures the UFC Heavyweight Championship, and to do so he needed to defeat Overeem. Lesnar lost this match and has publicly announced his retirement; he has accomplished a lot in such a short MMA career.

Bobby Lashely

This brings up many questions about Lesnar’s career, but there is one that interest me the most, which is why do pro wrestlers believe that they can make that transition from wrestling to MMA. Bobby Lashely and Batista have left the WWE to pursue careers in MMA. Bobby Lashely has an MMA record of seven wins and one loss, and to be honest I have never seen any of his fights, so I can’t really judge him. Batista has not been able get a fight in any promotion. Other wrestler’s that have been heard wanting to enter the octagon are Tara and Kurt Angle. Tara in my opinion is the only one that has actually come to her senesces. She has stated “realistically I’m forty, if I would have started this maybe, when I turned thirty, I think I could be ahead of the game and be in the mix”. These are words of a person that has realized she is a sport entertainer. I do not doubt their athletic ability, because I am a huge wrestling fan, but in wrestling the outcome is predetermine before the match starts. In MMA two men or women enter the cage and they beat them self senesces less until there is a clear cut winner. There is blood and amazing knockouts. In my opinion many of these wrestlers believe the hype that the WWE and/or TNA have built for them. I am not saying that they can’t take out an average guy (that is writing shit on a blog site) on the street, but the MMA competitors have been practicing the arts for years and that is what gives them an edge over pro wrestlers.

The second question that comes to mind is will he return to the WWE? It wouldn’t surprise me if he makes his return in a future WrestleMania to face The Undertaker. I can’t see him making his return on WrestleMania 28, the WWE is smarter than that, and they wouldn’t have two giant main events on one card. Third question is will he wrestle on a full time bases? I truly believe he will not, because Lesnar has made it clear that he never liked the traveling aspect of the business and besides what type of impact will he make in the world of wrestling, today. He is older and obviously has not fully recovered from his illness. In my opinion the WWE should stick to what they are doing right now, which is focusing on the younger talent. All of the Champions right now are younger and the future of business. Don’t get me wrong I am an old school guy. I have seen guys like Booker T, Jerry Lawler and Brock Lesnar himself in their prime; I hate to see them hold on to something that is not really there. I saw Jerry Lawler in a house show in New York City, and he looked slow in the ring, he can still entertain us, but it is because he takes us to our childhood. Brock Lesnar a great sports entertainer and in world of wrestling you never say never, so we may see him back in the ring sooner then we think.

Your Votes For The Best Wrestler Are In

CM Punk

The polling booth is closed and the answers are in to the questions posted a couple of weeks ago. Who is the best worker (wrestler) in the WWE and TNA? The winners are CM Punk& Kurt Angle, and I must agree with you guys they are the hottest superstars in their wrestling company. I must disagree, with the low ranking of guys like Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler and Cody Rhodes.   These guys are just waiting for that main event door to open and they will kick it in. My favorite superstar in this list is Dolph Ziggler, this guy is great on the mic and he makes every one of his opponents look like a million dollars. On Impact Wrestling, you guys voted Austin Aries really low, this guy is one of the best competitor in the X-Division. D’Angelo Dinero did not get one vote that was crazy, I really feel bad for him.  Bobby Roode got 15% of the votes and now he is the new World Champion, mark my words, he going to become a top superstar.

“The Immortal” Hulk Hogan

“The Immortal” Hulk Hogan was brought into Impact Wrestling to make it the number wrestling company in the world, but he is burying the company’s top guys on the air during a radio interview, before the company’s biggest Pay Per View event. When they asked Hogan if he believed Bobby Roode was going “Over” Kurt Angle “Nah, he's not ready. He's not the next guy. Y'know, they might think he is. Dixie Carter might think he is. The whole world might think he is. He's not the next guy.” WTF, is Hogan giving away the results of the PPV before it actually occurred. That was crazy, not only did he snapped on Bobby Roode he also let AJ Styles have it. When they asked about AJ Styles losing his main event status Hogan said "It's never too late. I mean, I just don't know. I, when I first came in all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed a couple of years ago, I had a ton of suggestions which I was kind of pushing real hard, which I thought would take him (Styles) to a crazy, crazy level, and nobody responded”. These two guys, put this company on the map, and yes he is a mega star, but Hogan has no right talking trash about the men who kept TNA a float for many years. I believe its Hogan massive ego that doesn’t allow him to become humble. Why does Hogan need to become a babyface on the biggest PPV event of TNA’s year? In my opinion the main reason is because he wants to out shine everyone’s hard work on that night. He goes as far to belittle the fans after they gave the World Championship Title to James Storm, on last edition of Impact wrestling, he states “Good morning Hulkamaniacs, can't wait for all the Rood fans that turned to haters to see the big picture, thank God we still have real marks HH”. I mean really, do you have treat the fans in that manner, we are the people that pay your salary; you should treat us with a little more respect than that. 

New TNA Champion

James Storm defeated Kurt Angle for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship title at tonight’s Impact Wrestling taping from Universal Studios in Orland, Florida. Congratulations James Storm, you have work hard your entire career to reach this goal.

Picture of the Week (October 14, 2011)

This is the one and only true main event for Bound for Glory, the World title match. I am predicting that Bobby Roode will defeat Kurt Angle, to become the new Impact Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion.

Hulk Hogan was going to retire on Impact Wrestling, and I for one would have been happy if such an amazing career came to an end on the mic rather than in the ring. As I predicted months ago, the main event for Bond for Glory was going to be ‘The Icon’ Sting, in his joker costume, vs. ‘The Immortal’ Hulk Hogan and I was right again, this match is going to down, folks. If Hogan loses the match to the Stinger, he will give control of Impact Wrestling back to Dixie Carter. I want everyone to understand that I get goose bumps very time I see the Hulkster walk down the ramp, but Impact Wrestling is expecting the fans to buy this Pay Per View, because of this main event, I don’t think so. Hulk Hogan is a 58 year old man and he has had 9 back surgeries, yes folks I said 9 back surgeries. We all saw the last match between Sting & Flair a couple of weeks ago. That match was horrible, because they both don’t move as well as they use to. I will buy this PPV for the World Championship match, Bobby Roode vs. Kurt Angle, the X Division Championship match between Austin Aries & Brian Kendrick and even the I Quit Match with AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels.  I can’t speak for many fans, but I can say this if you want to see these guys wrestle at their best watch this.

I really never understood how great people have demons within them. One of the best wrestlers in the world has been arrested for driving under the influence. 42 year old Kurt Angle was arrested by Virginia State Troopers, after they responded to a 911 call of a vehicle swerving in between lanes on I-66.  TMZ reports that the former 1996 Olympic gold medalist and current TNA World Champion, was released on a $2,000 bond. On a personal level I am a big fan of Angle’s and wish he can overcome his troubles.

Impact Wrestling (07/07/2011) part one

Mr. Anderson

Hello again wrestling fans. Mr. Anderson became the newest member of Immortal, by turning on Kurt Angel. I must retract my statement about Mr. Anderson I wrote on June 14^th, I was expecting a lot from him and all I saw was a mid-card wrestler get bullied in to joining a gang. Most likely Anderson will turn on Immortal, but the damage is done, I will view him as a mid-card competitor, until he makes a huge impact.  There was a follower on facebook that commented on our post of June 14, Anthony Reese stated “he (Mr. Anderson) is not that good” and after what I saw, I must agree with him. During the first segment we saw Bully Ray bury the Impact Champion with his words, stating that Anderson can’t beat Sting on his own, and what does Mr. Anderson, our World Champion do, he joins that same group that doesn’t value his title reign.  I am going to change the subject, because I am really disappointed with Mr. Anderson. 

Bobby Roode

On to the Bound for Glory Series, there are guys in this tournament that are past their prime, such as RVD, Bully Ray, Devon, and Scott Steiner. We also have guys that are ready for a huge push, such as “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero, Matt Morgan, James Storm and Bobby Roode. Crimson and Gunner are the two top guys in the standing. These two wrestlers have the least experience, but they are leading the pack, while a guy who in my opinion should run through the competition has yet to gain a victory, Bobby Roode. Crimson gain seven points by defeating the injured Roode, on this edition of Impact Wrestling. I am all for putting young wrestlers “over”, but not at the expense of a wrestler with so much talent. Bobby Roode shouldn’t lose to a no-talent, Goldberg want to be, as a matter of fact he should be leading tournament standings. Prediction time, I think in the end Roode will win the Bound for Glory Series.

Impact Wrestling (06/30/2011)

Hello again wrestling fans. I was watching Impact Wrestling and I can’t believe that Sting was transformed into “The Joker”. His imitation is fine, but why is Impact wrestling turning an iconic figure like Sting into a crazed clown. Apparently Sting wants to bring out the old Hulk Hogan, by having him take his vitamins on national television. In my opinion the best match was the triple threat match between Lowki, Jimmy Wang, and Matt Bentley. This match had many high spot and we even saw a “Flying Elvis”. Lowki came out on top, after hitting the “Warrior’s Way” off the top rope and pining Bentley. This match shows that Impact Wrestling is taking serious their new slogan “wrestling matter”. The six person elimination match between the Knockouts was good and the ring was full of eye candy, except Winter, she is the worst looking Knockout. Mickie James came out on top after out lasting Ms. Tessmacher (HOTTEST), Madison Rayne (Ok Hot), Tara (MLIF), Angelina Love (HOT) and Winter. The main event match was Scott Steiner vs. Sting. Sting gain the win over Steiner after hitting the “Scorpion Death Drop”. Bully Ray, the Impact Champion Mr. Anderson and Hulk Hogan took turns attacking Sting after the match. Finally Kurt Angle came out to save Sting; wow it’s hard to keep up who’s whipping Sting.

Mr. Anderson is the new TNA Champion

For those who haven’t heard it yet Mr. Anderson captured the TNA World title last Sunday night at Slammiversary, by defeating the then current champion Sting. It was a good match, but not the main event of the night. I am actually excited that Mr. Anderson is getting a second chance to carry the title. His new gimmick is not really original, in my opinion it reminds me of a beer drinking, Texas Rattlesnake named Steve Austin. When Anderson was in the WWE he had an awesome gimmick, but the WWE never saw him as a World Champion. I enjoyed some of Mr. Anderson segments especially when he dressed up as the original Sting; it brought me back to the old WCW days. I really am expecting a lot for this title reign, but who will be his next opponent? I believe TNA’s roster is full of top young wrestlers that can have great matches with the new champ.  Bobby Roode is one of them, but he is on the disable list, Eric Young, Desmond Wolfe and D’Angelo Dinero. These guys are the future of TNA, but we can always count on the older guys getting the opportunities first. Kurt Angle could be the next in line for the title after his victory over Jeff Jarrett or is RVD back in the title picture? Only time will tell. The 20 Greatest Wrestling Factions of All-Time!



Inside Wrestling Magazine

Hello again wrestling fans. I just finished reading the June issue of Inside Wrestling Magazine. They had an article called The 20 Greatest Wrestling Factions of All-Time! I really enjoyed the article because I am a big fan of factions. If you follow these wrestling groups you will find that many of their members became top wrestling superstars, after the group is dismantle. Let’s pick apart one of the factions on the list, The Alliance. The members in this group read like a Wrestling All-stars team; Steve Austin, Booker T, RVD, Kurt Angle, DDP, Chavo Guerrero, Billy Kidman and The Dudley Boys, just to new a few. The Alliance was created 2001, for the purposes to taking over the WWE. All of the members were former wrestlers of WCW & ECW. Most of these wrestlers became top superstars in the WWE after their run as Alliance members was over.

The Four Horsemen 

The list named the Four Horsemen as the number one faction in wrestling, and I most agree with list, and in my opinion they were truly the best. When I was seven year old I remember watching the Horsemen taking out The Road Warriors. After being a witness to a cohesive unit like Horsemen beat down one of the most powerful men in wrestling, I became an instant wrestling fan for life. The leader and champion was Ric Flair. The enforcer or the muscle was Arn Anderson. The Technical wrestlers were Tully Blanchard and Ole Anderson. The Manager of the group was J.J. Dillon. These men worked together for one objective, which was to keep the World title on Ric Flair and capture all the gold in the NWA.

CM Punk

There was one faction that was featured on this list, which I didn’t agree with. The NEXUS was ranked number seven on the list, but they haven’t existed for too long and I haven’t seen them make a big impact on wrestling. With all that being said, if this list should ever be reprinted in the near future I may agree with NEXUS seventh place ranking because CM Punk is the new leader of the NEXUS and I am expecting huge things from this new faction.

 

Legion of Doom

This article is also very informative. Legion of Doom was a faction that was lead by Paul Ellering in Georgia Championship Wrestling. The members were Jake Roberts, King Kong Bundy, The Iron Sheik and The Road Warriors. The Road Warriors used the name L.O.D while they wrestled in the WWE.

-Rumor has it Scott Steiner will not be at tonight's TNA Sacrifice pay-per-view to wrestle Matt Morgan.

- Karen Jarrett injures her ankle in a fall at her and Jeff Jarrett's home. The storyline injury will prevent her from wrestling at tonight's Sacrifice pay-per-view with Jeff in the match against Chyna and Kurt Angle.

- The original person for Kurt Angle’s mistress was former WWE NXT Lindsay “Alosia” Hayward. She is also known as Isis the Amazon.

On May 03, 2011, TNA Impact Wrestling taping we find out that Kurt Angel mistress is Chyna Doll. They will face Jeff & Karen Jarrett at the Sacrifice PPV. Chyna was introduced by Mick Foley, who was the representative for ‘The Network’.  He also re-named TNA, to Impact Wrestling. Mr. Anderson is the number one contender for the World Title, after winning a Battle Royale. Chyna ran in and eliminated Jeff Jarrett. Mr. Anderson tossed out Bully Ray, and is facing Sting at the Sacrifice PPV.

Shelton Benjamin

    

Welcome back wrestling fans, on my pervious posted I stated that I will be meeting former WWE wrestling superstar Shelton Benjamin, at The Wrestling Universe. I am going to give you a brief bio on his career. Shelton Benjamin joined the WWE as part of a tag team with Charlie Haas, later known as “The World’s Greatest Tag Team”. They both formed an alliance with Kurt Angle, during the beginning of their careers, and “Team Angle” was born, together they dominated SmackDown. Shelton Benjamin and his partner held the WWE Tag team titles twice. He also held the WWE Intercontinental Championship on three different occasions, and the WWE United States Championship once. Towards the ending of his WWE wrestling career Shelton Benjamin took on the moniker the Gold Stander. That name sums up his pro wrestling career, in my opinion. He was one of the most underrated wrestlers in the entire WWE. Shelton Benjamin wrestling skills shine bright on the greatest stage of them all, WrestlemMania, he stood above all other participants in the “Money in The Bank Matches”. All of his high flying and fast pace moves made him unforgettable. He never held the WWE World Heavy Weight Championship, but he did held victories over such WWE superstar as Ric Flair, Triple H, Chris Jericho, Rob Van Dam, and many more.
