| 'Stunnig' Steve Austin |
Stone Cold Steve Austin is the host of the WWE Tough Enough, but many young WWE fans don’t remember the real Texas Rattlesnake. Steve Austin started wrestling in the early 90’s as ‘Stunning’ Steve Austin, in WCW. He became the WCW Television Champion as soon as he joined the company and also joined Paul E. Dangerously’s (Paul Heyman), Dangerous Alliance. The Stable members were Rick Rude, Arn Anderson, Larry Zbyszko, and Bobby Eaton. The Dangerous Alliance had a great run in the company, but the group was separated early 1993, leaving Austin as single competitor for awhile.
Austin formed a tag team with the late, great, Brian Pillman, they were called The Hollywood Blonds, and together they capture the WCW World Tag Team Championship in a short period of time. After Pillman went down with an injure Austin lost the tag title, while teaming up with Steven Regal. Austin became the WCW United State Champion, but was later terminated by Eric Bischoff duo to a triceps injury that he obtained while on tour in Japan. Eric Bischoff fired him via a FedEx package; Paul Heyman gave Steve an opportunity to lash out at Bischoff and WCW, in ECW television program. Austin had memorable promos while in ECW, he wrestled twice for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, but never won the title. Finally he was called up to WWE.  |

He joined the WWE as a member of the Million Dollar Corporation and was known as the Ring Master. Steve is one of only four wrestlers to ever hold the Million Dollar Championship title. When he won the King of the Ring tournament in 1996, by defeating Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts, he cut a promo and said these now famous words “Austin 3:16 said I just whooped your ass!” His wrestling career took off from that point on. He became the WWE top heel and the fans still cheer him. In my opinion, the match at WrestleMania 13, with Bret Hart was the match that made Steve a WWE Superstar. This match was a ‘submission match’ with Ken Shamrock as the special guest referee. Steve Austin never ‘tapped out’ during the match. Instead he passed out while in the Sharpshooter giving the victory to Bret Hart. I will never forget Steve Austin face during that match it was cover in his own blood, a true WrestleMania moment. Steve Austin held many titles while in the WWE; WWE Championship Six times, WWE IC title twice, and WWE Tag Team titles four times. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009, and now he is the host of Tough Enough. In one of the episodes of Tough Enough, Luke Robinson had the honor to step in to the ring with Steve Austin, even thou Steve has not wrestled a full match for some years, he didn’t show any ring rust. I miss the day, where we saw the Thesz press and the Stone Cold Stunner, maybe Steve Austin has one more match in him, only time will tell.
